FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 10-22-2013

NOTICE

SPOKANE COUNTY PROPERTY OWNERS
AND
SPOKANE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Spokane County Commissioners and others are undermining property owners with commercial change in land use by amending (THE SPOKANE COUNTY ZONING CODE TEXT CHAPTER 14.614 INDUSTRIAL ZONING TO PROHIBIT RESIDENTIAL USE AND PROVIDE A MAXIMUM BUILDING HEIGHT OF 150' WITH SPECIFIC CRITERIA IN THE LIGHT INDUSTRIAL ZONE COUNTY FILE NO. 12-ZTA-07). Which means no apartments, condos or houses can be built but you can build motels or hotels, I guess the county commissioners think people don't live in motels or hotels the only difference is the TAXES. What this does it makes your property limited use commercial, all of this is being done by not letting the property owner know. I purchased 1.5 acres of mixed commercial to build an estimated $7 to $8 million dollar project, 39 unit Aging in Place condominium or apartments, which the county approved in a Pre-development meeting and gave us permission to build with a package of demands. We spent thousands of dollars and hours on Architect work Surveys and planning. I called zoning for information to build the road along Queen and Morrill on March 26, 2013 and was told I can't build the condominium because the zoning had changed to (no living in all commercial zoning in Spokane County). My first thought was to sue but my second thought was to educate the people of Spokane County that own property. I have lived here in the county for 12 years and the zoning has changed 3 times and I have not received a notice for either one. It's a shame property owners don't know what their zoning is from month to month on his property in Spokane County, whatever and whenever the County Commissioners decide. I ask for your help the citizens and property owners, developers and business owners to help stop this undermining/underhanded zone changing and reject the Amendment that limit's the use of your property, it undermines the use and devalues your property. We should demand that any zone change planning within 400' of your property you be notified in writing by mail. When I asked why I was not notified I was told by the County Planning Department, we ran an add in the Spokesman-review, well I don't see their name on any parts of my property title plus they don't deliver on dirt roads, that is what I was told by the Spokesman-Review, that is total undermining. The county said it's to expensive to let property owners know, well if your going to change zoning every month or year it could get costly but the county has no problem sending out tax bills, utility bills or garbage bills and so on. CINAAR is demanding that the county stick to their agreement, grandfather it in or pay for the expense we accumulated $25,000 to $35,000 on a 7 to 8 million dollar project. CINAAR is asking for your help with donations to hire a zoning attorney to litigate this matter, we believe this was done in support of Prop I by the Board of County Commissioners.
